How To Be Successful in Life – Finding Inspiration
HOW TO OVERCOME THE CREATIVE BLOCK OF HAVING NO IDEAS
It doesn’t matter how creative you are. The time will undoubtedly come when you have problems unleashing your creativity. This can take many forms, from having an idea but not knowing how to implement it, to not having any ideas at all. This is perhaps the condition most feared by anyone who creates for a living.
Often, when you’re experiencing a block such as this, your first reaction is to force things along. You try to make yourself come up with new ideas and you end up trapping yourself in a cycle of frustration.
You feel that it’s impossible to come up with anything good. When you do have a flash of inspiration it feels like you’ve done the same thing countless times before. Or maybe your mind is just a complete blank. It doesn’t have to be this way. Here are some simple ways to get those creative juices flowing:
FIND INSPIRATION IN CHANGE:
You need change to live. Change is what excites us and makes us long to create. How can you expect to be imaginative if you’ve been stuck in the same place all the time? You senses aren’t being stimulated. Awaken your senses and you can awaken your creativity.
Do something to shake thing up. Get out there, close to nature. If you’re an active person, you might consider going on a hike or just strolling in the woods. If not, spend some time in your garden. These activities will relax you. Sometimes just trying so hard to come up with ideas is the very thing that’s holding you back.
Maybe you’re live in a city, or there’s some other reason why you can’t go out among the streams and the trees. Don’t make that a problem. There are many ways that you can change you’re surroundings without going outside. Do some redecorating. Get your hands on flower scented oils and candles. Put on some soothing music. The important thing is that you establish a soothing environment.
USE A NEW TECHNIQUE:
There may not be anything wrong with your old technique, but sometime you may either need to institute some discipline or try to be a bit more laid back. Of course we’re going on the premise that you do already have a technique. If you don’t then now may be the best time to implement one.
Have you ever tried mind mapping? It’s a very simple method where you place your central concept in the middle of a sheet of paper and then try to come up with as many offshoot ideas as possible. Then take some time and review what you’ve come up with. Weed out the ones that don’t work and then continue the process, i.e. come up with offshoot ideas for your offshoot ideas. You would be amazed at what you can create using this technique.
Everyone goes through a slow period sometimes. The key is to relax and not try too hard. Embrace some changes in your routine and you’ll be back to your creative self in no time.
