How To Be Successful In Life – See It Happening
Think A Thought And Make It Happen
You can’t make anything happen until you think it first
You become what you think – whether that is something positive or something negative. Make sure it’s something positive! No one ever set a world record or became a millionaire by believing it couldn’t happen to them. If you control your thoughts you control your future – and you *can* make it happen.
Every great project in the world started with a single thought. Some thoughts never make it beyond the creator’s brain; other thoughts become reality. What’s the difference? The difference is that some thinkers make their thoughts happen – they plan for success – and here’s how to do it.
See yourself achieving your goal
Sports psychologists train athletes to visualize themselves as winning a race. Top athletes are good at this. They see themselves as passing the finishing line in first place – then they mentally rehearse the steps that will get them to that place where they want to be. You can do that to – with anything – no matter what your ambition. This mental rehearsal means you are already planning the things you need to in order to fulfill your ambition.
No ambition was ever realized without you ever having to lift finger in work. But the best bit about this visualization is that it won’t seem like work. You’ll enjoy seeing yourself as successful and achieving what you want to achieve and that’s probably all you’ll be aware of. But actually what you’ve done is alerted your subconscious mind. You’ve given it the heads-up over what you want to do.
“Hey guys, listen here – s/he want to do X, Y and Z…let’s think how we can make it happen for her.”
Ideas of ways forward will pop into your head seemingly from nowhere, but it is YOU who planted that original thought.
By doing this visualization, you’ve taken two important steps towards your goal – and it was as easy as daydreaming – literally! You have:
- Focused on what you really want (i.e. made your aim clear so you’re not trying to hit a blind target
- Taken control of what you believe
OK – that was the easy bit. But knowing what you want to achieve and believing you can achieve it is a great start when it comes to making these dreams come true and fulfilling those ambitions. It will give you the motivation to keep going through some consistent, maybe hard, work now. Your positive mental attitude now needs you to help it a bit so that it has some reason to be positive. It’s time to get pro-active.
What needs to happen/not happen for you to achieve your aim?
In order to be successful in your aim, there are certain criteria that need to be fulfilled. If you are willing to take action to fulfill these criteria, you can make what you aim for happen. A good way to do this is to identify exactly what it is you want to achieve. If you don’t know the target, you can’t aim efficiently!
Write down a list of things that need to happen/not happen. Make it realistic and make it comprehensive. It doesn’t matter how many things are on there. In fact – the more the merrier, because if something later comes up that you hadn’t thought about before, that can knock your confidence. You don’t need to make this problem for yourself – so get writing!
Hold the thought – and act on it
Keep your aim in mind. Now you know what needs to happen in order for you to achieve your aim, *take* the steps you just planned. They’re no good just in your head – you have to *do* something about them. So take that class, make that appointment, arrange that bank loan – whatever it is, just do it!
Keep re-visiting your aim and the actions you planned in order to achieve it
That enables you to stay clear about your aim, but don’t be a slave to the exact aim. If it’s not working for you – change it. Scale it down, or make it bigger. Make it inspire you again. After all – that aim is *yours* – you can do whatever you want with it. Knowing what you want will concentrate your energies and you won’t waste time on doing things that won’t help you achieve it.
Re-assessing your original aim will give you greater strength for the difficult times that may be ahead. You’ll see it’s still something worth working for, and you’ll see what benefits success will bring. You’ll also see how far you’ve come towards achieving your goal.
Celebrate your achievements
Take time to celebrate those achievements. Notice when you have fulfilled one of your targets. It will keep you going and keep you focused as each target builds on the previous one.
Perhaps most importantly of all, looking back at what you want to achieve will help you see what you need to do next. You *can* achieve your dreams. Sometimes that will need a little help – sometimes it will need a lot! But you *can* do it. Just think a thought and then take the steps you know you need to, to make it happen. Your future is in *your* hands.
To your success
