How To Be Successful in Life – Self Awareness
EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVITY THROUGH A LITTLE SELF AWARENESS
Every day, each individual is asked to put on various personas and play different roles. With the space of twenty-four hours, you can be called upon to be a parent, a friend, a colleague, or any number of other things. Often you try to please everyone by becoming what they want you to be, or at least pretending to.
What this ultimately boils down to is that you’re a different person at any given point in the day. How different depends on how much you give in to the expectations of others. Such subtle deceptions can be very draining and lead to a lack of creativity in all aspects of your life.
At the end of the day, who are you? Who do you want to be? Are you able to detach from the roles that you play and finally be yourself? The creative, imaginative person is under there, but it’s too easy for them to become lost under all the personas. Ask yourself the following five questions. If you answer honestly it may help you find your way back to the creative you.
IF YOU ONLY HAD TWENTY-FOUR HOURS LEFT ON THIS EARTH, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IT?
What would you create if you knew that your time was limited? A happy home? A love song? A machine? Why wait? Pretend that your time is limited now. The ideas are already in your head. Make them a reality.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE YOUR THREE GREATEST STRENGTHS?
Do you think that your resourcefulness and creativity are your greatest strengths? Then why haven’t you been using them to their full potential? Learn how to make your strengths meld together to form a creative firestorm.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PEOPLE CLOSEST TO YOU WOULD SAY YOUR THREE GREATEST STRENGTHS ARE?
It is usually very surprising to hear what others think about you. Things that you may have taken for granted, or even thought of as a weakness, can be admired by others.
WHAT ARE THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES THAT YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE BY?
Your creativity is a manifestation of who you are and, as such, it will be governed by the same principles that direct you in the rest of your life. If you live by a code of honesty then let that guide your creativity. Be honest about what you hope to create. Don’t be afraid to express yourself.
IF YOU COULD ONLY CREATE ONE GREAT PIECE OF WORK THAT STOOD FOR THE ESSENCE OF WHO YOU TRULY ARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Would you be willing to take a chance then? Look deeply into yourself and determine why you have been so averse to taking risks. Is it the possibility of disappointment? You only have one life to live. Don’t waste it by holding back your creative potential just because you’re afraid of what might happen.
Become aware of who you really are on the inside. The trick to doing that is to be very honest with yourself. You may learn some things that you don’t like, but that just means you get to change them. Only by knowing yourself can you truly create.
To your success
