Positive Thinking – Raise Your Self Esteem
THINK YOUR WAY TO A GREAT NEW LEVEL OF SELF ESTEEM
Positive thinking can change your life in ways that you never thought possible. It can take your self-esteem to great new heights. It’s not something that you can use to drastically alter your life right away though. You need to take baby steps. Start small. Work on changing the little things and your success will lead you to believe that the bigger things can improve too.
It’s often difficult to truly believe that the big things will change. It’s one thing to say to yourself: “Tomorrow I’m going to jog for an extra ten minutes”. It’s a completely different thing to say: “This week I’m going to shed ten pounds.” Start small and you’re sure to succeed.
The first step in getting positive thinking to work for you lies in altering the way that you already think and creating a brand new positive attitude. You need to dispense with your old negative attitude before you can even begin to build a new one. This can be a difficult process for some. Don’t worry if it’s taking you a bit of time. It’s a lot to do so don’t feel bad if it needs to be a gradual process for you. As you see things start to change in your life through your positive thinking, getting rid of the negativity will become easy.
Do you know who William James is? Many of you do not, but here’s something that he said: “The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” He was right.
Is there something holding you back from reaching your full self esteem potential? Even people who accept that positive thinking has merit may feel a bit unsure about totally putting their faith in mere thought. There’s no ‘mere’ involved in it. Thinking that you can do it and then achieving it can help your self-esteem go through the roof.
Self-esteem does not equate to arrogance or selfishness. There is absolutely nothing wrong with believing in yourself and trusting your own abilities. Some people think that those with high self-esteem are full of themselves. This is not true. Boosting your self-esteem merely means that you feel good about yourself. What could possibly be the down side of that?
Giving yourself a positive outlook on life will definitely improve the way that you think of yourself. That being said, it is important that you find a balance between self-confidence and modesty. While the universe may not revolve around you, you are a special person who can achieve anything. Think it, believe it, and it will be so.
To your success
